Some Natural Hair Conditioning Masks
We do all sort of styling to our hair so that it can stay straight, silky and beautiful without realizing the amount of damage that has actually caused to our own natural tresses. During this process, the strands of our hair loose out on its moisture and begin to look dry, dull and damaged. Now how do we set our hair right without using any chemicals? Use natural hair conditioning masks straight from the kitchen. It moisturizes the hair to deeper roots and sets a smooth silky look besides saving on the time and money from the expensive hair spas and other treatments.
Here are the some of effective natural hair conditioning masks based on the hair types:
Avocado Hair Conditioning Masks
Avocado has proven to be the best hair mask for hair care. It moisturizes the hair to deeper roots and even outs the dry and damaged hair and makes it soft, lustrous and hydrated. It nourishes the scalp and provides better hair growth.
Ingredients: 1 Avocado (Ripe), 1 tbsp honey, 2 tbsp olive oil
Avocado is rich in vitamins and proteins and its antibacterial property helps in nourishment of hair and scalp and makes the hair soft and silky. Honey due to its vitamins and minerals, leaves a moisturizing effect on the hair. Olive oil further strengthens the hair from its roots and further moisturizes the hair.
Take mashed Avocado (Ripe) and add 1 tbsp of honey and 2 tbsp of olive oil and mix them well to form a creamy paste. Leave it on the hair for 20 minutes and wash off with mild shampoo.
Tips: You can also choose egg instead of honey as Egg too has natural moisturizing property.
You can also use one full jar of mayonnaise and mashed avocado together for your hair as mayonnaise acts as a conditioner to the hair.
Banana and Avocado works at its best when combined together and applied in hair as a hair mask. It is a great ingredient for dry and weak hair as it maintains hair growth and prevents hair loss. Mix 1 ripe banana, 1 ripe avocado along with olive oil & few drops of some essential oils such as lavender, rose or jasmine for fragrance. Apply this mask on your hair and after 20 minutes rinse off with gentle shampoo.
For weak and damaged hair:
Banana and honey hair mask: Both with its natural moisturizing ability, strengthens the hair and prevents split ends.
Take one whole banana (Ripe) and mash it well and add 1 tbsp of honey to it and mix very well. You can also mix it on the blender to make a fine paste or strain it through the filter or cheesecloth to remove the extra chunks of banana. Apply this mask on your hair and leave it for 15 – 20 minutes & rinse off with shampoo or conditioner.
Yogurt and egg hair mask:
Egg, due to its high protein level, is ideal for cleansing, moisturizing, and conditioning. Yogurt with its milk protein and lactic acid provides strength to the hair and stimulates hair growth.
Take 1 egg white and whisk it to form foam. Now add 1/4 cup of yogurt and 1/4 cup of mayonnaise and mix it with beaten egg white. Massage thoroughly to the hair scalp and the hair and cover it up with shower cap. After a hour, wash off with mild shampoo and rinse off with cold water. Apply this every fortnight.
Few more ingredients for hair mask to condition the hair:
Olive oil and Coconut oil: Both these oils are very effective in moisturizing the hair and conditioning it. Mix 2 part of coconut oil and 1 part of olive oil and massage it well on the scalp and the hair ends. Wrap the whole hair to a bun and leave it for 20- 30 minutes as per the intensity of the damage caused to the hair. Wash off with a shampoo.
Olive oil when mixed with egg white or honey can prevent dryness in the hair. Combine 5 tbsp of olive oil and 2 beaten eggs and apply it on the hair. After 15-20 minutes, rinse off with shampoo.
With honey, add 2 tbsp of honey to 3 tbsp of olive oil and massage well to the hair. After 15 minutes, wash off with shampoo.
Strawberries: A great source that controls excess oil production in the scalp and boosts hair growth. You can apply its juice as it is or mix it with mayonnaise to get a silky touch to the hair. It can also be combined to 1 egg yolk and 2 tbsp of olive oil and washed off after 10 15 minutes.
For itchy scalp due to flakes, stress, and poor diet, mix 2 tbsp of lemon juice with 2 tbsp of olive oil and massage it on the hair. Remove the mask with shampoo and water after 20 minutes.
